Big Rapids Area Amateur Radio Club
About BRAARC

Big Rapids is located in central Michigan and is home to about 11,000. Big Rapids is also home to Ferris State University and the Big Rapids Area Amateur Radio Club[BRAARC].

BRAARC is a ARRL special service club. The club maintains 3 repeaters: a 2 meter repeater(146.74, -offset), a 440 repeater(443.9, +offset), and a 6 meter repeater(52.860, -offset).

Monthly meetings are held at the Big Rapids DPS which is located at 435 North Michigan in Big Rapids. Meetings occur the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 P.M. and all are welcome to attend. Please see announcements below.


Handyfinder construction night Thursday: October 23 starting at 5:30 p.m. at room 416 of the Swan Technical Building on the Ferris State University Campus. The evening will begin with Pizza, and construction will start at 6:00 PM. You will be able to Park on Ives Ave or in parking lot number 2.
 
Next club breakfast Saturday: November 1 at 8 a.m. at Crankers in Big Rapids. Talk-in on the 146.740 Big Rapids 2-meter repeater for anyone needing directions.
 
New ham orientation class and potluck Saturday: November 1 at the Big Rapids Department Of Public Safety Building, located at 435 N. Michigan.--Meet and greet at 8:30 a.m., with class to begin at 9 a.m. Potluck at 3 p.m. at the conclusion of the class. Club nets:

440 general net on 443.900 repeater Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m.-to be resumed when 440 repeater is back in service.

2-meter general net on 146.74 repeater Tuesday evenings at 9 p.m.

Local ARES/RACES net on 146.74 2-meter repeater the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 9 p.m.

A BRAARC e-mail listserve or users group has been established for all BRAARC members to use as a forum for exchanging thoughts, ideas, questions, and any other concerns related to our club or amateur radio in general.
